Someplace Independent School District, Technology Assistant, Someplace, WI,       2009-Present

Trainer and problem-solving liaison between the Technology Department and for 525 staff and students.

  • Trouble shooting and maintaining school technology that includes 174 desktops, 89 laptops, 38 Promethean Boards and projectors, 38 printers and 8 iPads for a staff of 50 and student body of 475;
  • Provided key services in school-wide network implementations by creating simplified and streamlined user protocol for teachers.  Changed initial response of confusion and resistance to acceptance and effective use of the new structure.  Received many appreciative comments and thanks from users and leaders was consequently nominated for Paraprofessional of the Year 2010.
  • Resolved major barrier blocking use of newly installed Promethean Boards.  When the high-tech boards were not ready for use when school opened in August, I contacted the manufacturer and developed a way to bypass the current set up to allow teachers access to the teaching tools while long-term software problems were being resolved.  Created easily-understood PowerPoint presentation, with instructions and photos, which were was used by other school department and then other schools with similar problems.  It quickly enabled hundreds of teachers and thousands of students to utilize the new system.
  • Trained and guided teachers on how to integrate technology to create lessons.  For example, Second Grade approached me with a grade-level project in which the students choose a product or service to offer at Dragon Dollar Day. 
  • Trained students on Microsoft Publisher and conducted lessons on creating flyers for their marketing/advertising plan as well as business cards.
  • Educated and trained teachers in groups or individually on tech resources as well as any other web 2.0 resource that engages students while at the same time maintains teacher productivity.  I have been so successful in this that teachers from other schools have come to me for consultation.
  • Streamlined tech procedures on two levels: for teachers and then to simplify even further so as to introduce the concepts to elementary school children.  Served as a technology consultant to the PTO as to what equipment would best suit their needs in presentations and school productions.
