Experience

Production and Promotional Internship, WXYZ TV, Madison, WI, May – August 2012.

  • Wrote, produced and scheduled public service 13 messages to promote Henry Vilas Zoo Benefit, which aired more than 30 times over three weeks and reached hundreds of thousands of people and helped draw large crowd to the event.  This work received high praise from Promotions Director. Gained knowledge in computer production of multi-media TV broadcast materials. 

  • Wrote and scheduled public service message to promote bicycle fund-raiser for multiple scleoris, which aired more than 25 times over three weeks and stimulated many riders to participate.

  • Wrote and scheduled public service message to promote Golfing Outing for Tellurium fund-raiser, which aired approximately 25 times over three weeks.

  • Wrote and produced approximately 50 promotional preview spots for the station to highlight upcoming television shows and news spots.

  • Attended and participated in news meetings, giving suggestions and comments on news stories.

  • Organized and managed Take Your Brat To Work (special fund-raiser) at the station.  The even ran smoothly and raised substantial amount of money.

Advertising Campaign for WZZZ Radio, Madison, WI.  As part of advanced advertising course at UW-Whitewater, I prepared and conducted 5-week advertising campaign, which had been chosen by the client over other competition.

Advertising Campaign for Spa At Riverfront, Someplace, WI.  As part of advanced advertising course at UW-Whitewater, I prepared and conducted another 5-week campaign, which was also had been selected by the client over other competition.  I was the only student to have two proposals selected by professional clients.

Marketing Campaign for Someplace Bank, Madison, WI.  Researched client, and then designed competitive analysis on which direct mail and other advertising was based.  Also wrote companion news releases for campaign.

Public Relations Campaign for Catholic Knights of Someplace, WI.  Designed and produced semester-long public relations campaign to attract younger members to the organization.  Wrote news releases, flyers, brochures, direct mail, and posters. 

Event Planning

UW-Whitewater, Mother-Father-Daughter Banquet, hosted 150 people.  Planned, budgeted, organized and directed marketing, catering, ticket payments, speakers, and awards, May 2005.

UW-Whitewater, Formal Awards Banquet, hosting 110 people.  Coordinated with hotel event planner to organize and direct entire event, including budgeting, room payments, entertainment scheduling and payment, planning program, printing materials, collecting payments for rooms and dinners.  Gained experience and knowledge on developing precise contracts with vendors, and gained valuable experience with maintaining constant communications and control with all parties to ensure success of event and overcome setbacks.

UW-Whitewater, Alpha Sigma social event, hosted 100 guests.  Located event site, coordinated with bus transportation for all guests, negotiated discounts for facilities and foods, collected all payments, selected and contracted for entertainment.

Bachelors of Arts Communications, University of Wisconsin – Whitewater
Speech Major with emphasis in Public Relations, and Minor in Advertising.   Will graduate December 2005, Cumulative GPA 3.2, financed part of education expenses.

Other Work Experience

Madison School Community Recreation, Playground Specialist, 2001 to present during summers.  Organized daily activities, assisted supervisor with administrative duties, prepared daily lesson plans, interacted with and supervised children, including conflict resolution with children’s groups.
